Cardiff’s reputation as an attractive destination for a day out or short break is growing rapidly and the vision for the new St. David’s in 2009 is to build on this image and transform the Southern end of the City giving an underused area a new lease of life. This will create attractive and safe public spaces for people to enjoy and an exciting contemporary retail hot spot, catering for all types of shoppers.
Cardiff city centre can offer a huge variety of shopping, including the high street, Victorian and Edwardian arcades, and modern shopping centres including Capitol, Queens and St David's.
According to Experian’s 2008 definitive retail ranking report Cardiff’s St David’s 2 scheme will move the Welsh capital into the top eight retail locations in the UK.

Morgan & Royal Arcades
Built in 1896 and stretching between The Hayes and St Mary Street, the Morgan Arcade is reckoned to be the best preserved of Cardiff's 12
arcades.
The Royal arcade features Venetian windows on the first floor with several units boasting original wooden shop fronts.

St David's Shopping Centre and St David's 2
The existing St. David’s Shopping Centre and the St. David’s 2 development forms one shopping centre, opened in October 2009, creating 4,000 new jobs and is one of the UK’s largest shopping centres with over 180 shops and over 1.4 million square feet of retail space (that’s equivalent to 30 football pitches!)
